Colourful variety in the Schwabinger Tor

The Schwabinger Tor – shops, restaurants, office, hotel and apartment, distributed in nine buildings on a 4.2 hectare area. The idea of sharing is what makes the Schwabinger Tor so special. We introduce you to the neighboring city quarter with all its advantages.

The city quarter

Where once the goods station Munich-Schwabing and later the leisure and shopping centre Schwabylon were located, you can now see the Schwabinger Tor in the immediate vicinity of the TIMEHOUSE. Today there are nine buildings on the large site, designed by various renowned architects. With its own station, the Schwabinger Tor is easy and quick to reach, but for TIMEHOUSE guests the walk only takes just five minutes into the colourful life with varied green spaces.

The versatile offer

The Schwabinger Tor offers a lot – from super modern apartments and offices, to a sports club and indoor-cycling studio, to restaurants and shopping facilities. The residents are also pleased to have their own car sharing fleet, which is waiting in the underground car park to be conveniently booked via an app. And speaking of which, the Schwabinger Tor has its own platform, which provides all offers and activities of the Schwabinger Tor. The guiding principle “sharing economy” runs through the entire city district. The Schwabinger Tor is not only a name for private persons – modern office space for around 50 companies is also located in the buildings.

Movements in contemporary art: The “Pinakothek der Moderne”

When the weather is cold outside, Munich offers a lot of museums which are an excellent opportunity to spend your day. The “Pinakothek der Moderne” is one of the most famous exhibition halls in the world, along with the “Alte Pinakothek” and the “Neue Pinakothek”. Part of Munichs Art Area, the “Pinakothek der Moderne” unites four independent museums under one roof. It shows its visitors interesting collections of 20th and 21st century art, graphics, architecture and design.

Collection Modern Art

Where the exhibition of the “Neue Pinakothek” ends, the exhibition of the “Pinakothek der Moderne” begins. In addition to art from classical modernism and contemporary art, photography and videography also await the astonished gazes of visitors. Thanks to more than 20.000 artworks, it’s one of Europes largest collection houses.

State Collection of Prints and Drawings

The “Staatliche Graphische Sammlung München” (SGSM) comprises over 350.000 prints and over 45.000 drawings from all epochs since the 12th century and is thus one of the largest institutions of its kind in the world and one of the most important in Germany.

Architecture museum

Built for the predecessor of today’s Technical University of Munich, the Architecture Museum presents temporary exhibitions of original photographs, drawings and models. Its collection includes about half a million drawings by hundreds of renowned architects.

Design Museum – The new collection

The world’s first design museum convinces with over 100.000 objects of applied art from the 20th and 21st centuries and is one of the world’s leading design museums. There you can see various designs from the fields of applied arts, product and industrial design.
